At Christmas more than any time of year, no matter how many things I’ve crossed off my to-do list or how much I’ve done, my mind pulsates with the message that there is more to do.

When I choose to ignore the message by going into a quiet room and closing the door, I am reminded that this is the best thing I can possibly do.  Turning my focus to my Heavenly Father and the gift of His Son, I breathe more deeply and find rest from the culture’s demanding pace.

Matthew 6:33 says,  “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”  I believe that because I’ve experienced it.  Today as I act on it again – as I seek God first by quietly meditating on Him, a spiritual transaction occurs.  Somehow, something in me shifts and I am changed.

The remainder of my day, I am aware of His presence and direction, His love and His care.
